We would like to take the time to truly thank everyone who donated to help us with Elsie’s vet bill. Unfortunately, we have been set back by a string of very high vet bills which makes our tough job, even tougher! We could not help the dogs we do without your generous support. We had set the Chip In at $1500, but raised enough money to cover Elsie’s bill, so it was able to come down early! Unfortunately, just as Elsie was feeling better and we were able to pay her bill, we had another unfortunate thing happen. We found out our Cindi Lou needs surgery and will cost over $2,000! We seem to not be able to get ahead lately :(

Cindi Lou came to PLR from our friends at the Worcester Animal Rescue League after being dumped… a stray… among the SO many… A favorite at the shelter! PLR had an open foster home. Thankfully we were able to place her into a loving foster home with our Joy and Eddie, until we found her forever home.

While in foster care, her foster family noticed that she was in obvious pain in one of her legs. She was brought to Windham Animal Hospital in NH where she was diagnosed with a cruciate tear. Our girl is worth her weight in gold… and then some. We will do all can for her as we do for all our dogs who come into our rescue.

She is scheduled for surgery the end of this month and once again, we need your help and support. We are adding a new chip in to help with this extremely high bill. Any amount that you can donate to help our cause is greatly appreciated. As a non-profit, funding is one of our biggest issues and without funds, we cannot help the dogs who are awaiting our help. Thank you once again for everyone who donated to Elsie and in advance for Cindi Lou! On a happy note, Elsie has made a full recovery and went to her forever home on 3/3! She certainly deserves the wonderful new family she has. Thank you to her foster parents Randy and Becca and for everyone who helped with her high vet bills. Elsie is very thankful to you all and will live a long, happy, and healthy life with her new family!

Miss Suki (or Ooki, as Jack calls her) has transitioned easier that we expected her to, and it feels like she’s been our pooch for years.

It took our cat Sammy about 4 days to realize that Suki was respectful, and they share space together quite well now. Jack, our 2 yr. old, loves to throw toys for Suki and feed her treats, as well as full on open mouth kissing (sometime you just have to look the other way).

Ada who is 4, loves that Suki comes up with us every evening to serve as our footrest while we read bedtime books.

Most mornings we walk down to the beach where dogs can romp off leash, and Suki has a blast meeting other dogs. Her recall is great, and we are continuing to reinforce it with bits of treat. I don’t think she has even noticed the ocean is there, not a water dog this one.

I want to thank you all again for doing such a great job with Suki! We’re very fortunate to have such a well socialized, happy dog in our family.

Best wishes,

Beth
