Jenna Luginbuhl – Adoption Counselor

I have always been a dog lover, growing up around dogs they were always my passion.  I first discovered Pit Bulls when I met my husband-to-be.  He had two Pit Bulls (Kali and Snoopy), it was funny because I remember around that time everyone asking me if I was afraid of them etc.  To be completely honest I was never once afraid or felt threatened, if anything I realized how much I loved the breed and how loyal and loving they are in return.

Whenever people ask me what type of dogs I have there is always some type of reaction after my response.  I tried not to let it bother me, but always found myself defending us for choosing to have Pit Bulls and/or defending the breed.  Working in the law enforcement field it became especially tough because they only see the negative side of everything, including the ignorant owners who own these dogs for all the wrong reasons.

Our first foster was a stray that came from a bad area.  It was determined Annabelle just had puppies and was most likely dropped off somewhere to fend for herself.  She seemed broken; with a lot of scars both mentally and physically.  You could see the hurt in her eyes, I was so close to becoming a foster failure but I knew the trouble of adding another female into our home was not fair to any of the dogs.  PittieLove Rescue was able to find her a forever home, where she now gets all the attention and love she always deserved.

The sad reality of this breed is not only discrimination but the carelessness of the owners.  It has truly amazed me at how devoted and passionate PittieLove is about not only rescuing this breed but also sending the right message.  I am so glad they have given me the opportunity to work with their “family” of volunteers!
