Meet Huckleberry! This 3-year old freckled wonder came to us after being surrendered as part of a hoarding situation (he lived with 13 cats – wowsa!). Huckleberry is delightfully fuzzy, happy-go-lucky, and deaf, but that doesn’t slow him down. He knows exactly how to “dog!” He can cuddle up during a snow storm to watch a movie, or romp through the newly fallen snow with a childlike innocence. He’s one giant gooey gumdrop with the sweetness to match. And those ears! They sport the BEST freckles east of the Mississippi.
Huckleberry is a people-person who is always ready for adventures, with a good heart and kind disposition. And like his name, Huck is adorable and playful! He loves looking at his own reflection, so mirrors or storefront windows will certainly slow him down as he stops to admire himself. This berry beautiful soul is a certified amateur professional at snuggling…able to cozy right up without hogging the real estate or the blankets. Like most creatures, Huckleberry just wants to love and be loved.
This gentle and handsome fellow has tested well with dogs and cats, but we suspect he would prefer to be the only dog in the home. And because of his deafness, Huckleberry would do best in a family with older or no kids. He is a gentle soul, but young kids startling a hearing impaired dog or accidentally letting him outside unleashed could have serious consequences. Huckleberry’s family would also need to stay committed to continuing his training, which would be a joy since he is so eager to learn (and spend time with those he loves). A fenced yard would be ideal for his safety as well. Deaf dogs are absolute gems, but it will take a little extra preparation on the part of his adopter to understand his needs ahead of time.

Her birthday is February 17th and she crossed the rainbow bridge on 2/13/14 at almost 17 years old. She was the love of my life and I miss being her mom so much. She will never be forgotten. Also, in honor of my current pit bull love Gia who is 10 today”!
